The Bar Council

The bar Council is the regulatory and representative body for barristers in England and Wales. It deals with the qualification and conduct rules governing barristers and those wishing to become barristers.

 The Law Society

The Law Society is the professional body of solicitors in England and Wales they provide services and support for solicitors themselves and deal with matters of conduct.

 Institute of Legal Executives

The Institute of Legal Executives was established in 1963 with the support of the Law Society. Legal Executives are qualified lawyers specialising in a particular area of law.

 SFLA

Resolution is an association of over 5000 solicitors who sets high standards of good practice in family law and runs an accreditation scheme for specialist family lawyers.

 CAB

The Citizens Advice Bureau Service offers free, confidential, impartial and independent advice. There are 2,000 CAB outlets in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. Here is the advice site.

 JSB

The Judicial Studies Board provides training and instruction for all full-time and part-time judges in the skills necessary to be a judge. It also has an advisory role in the training of lay magistrates and of chairmen and members of tribunals.
